Epic Fail Fix

So I wound up finding this cute little cardstock at Michael's for ninety nine cents...

& I disassembled the mirror... traced the back to insure a good, proper fitting...

& then I found my ammo of choosing... I sprayed the silver really lightly over the picture... not enough to do a color change... just enough for a dewy, shiny look...

I used to ModPodge to adhere to picture to the paper, then I coated it as well to seal it...

Luckily, it dries clear! To further seal and protect it, I sprayed it down with 2 coats of polyurethane, which can be found at any hardware store or department...

Feeling that it still wasn't quite right, I found these charms meant for bracelet making but ultimately, I think it was meant for this...

& Viola! Put it all back together & this is what I have!!

Monkeying Around

Over the course of today, I acquired a new centerpiece, for free... yayness.

Regan came over today and her little girl & my Labrapit enjoyed a fun filled 20 minutes playing tug war with Mav's monkey. She'd hold it and shake it... he'd prance over and snag it from her, walk in a circle around her and drop it off in her lap. Quite the continuous cycle.

Matryoshka measuring

How cute are these!!!! How inspiring as well to go bake some yum yums...

Picture Happy

I went to Michael's today to fix my epic fail, I found the paper that seemed to be the best spouse for my newest idea and while I was there, I found the cutest basket for Sunday picnics for 60% off... making my little find a steal for just $3.00!!

I then came home & my friends baby girl was dressed far too cute to pass up so I pulled out my camera and proceeded to lay belly down in the wet grass, cooing and giggling with her. She was such a good little sport as we posed her and successfully made her smile this megawatt grin. She's soo photogenic, I love it!!

Wreaking Havoc

Toys in this home don't last long anymore... I try not to be so amused when you two gentlemen do terrible things. I tried not to laugh as the toy I brought home for you was destroyed in minutes. But it's just too funny.

When you act so proper and dashing, Mav...

Just to be a dirty, rotten thief...
I still find you dramatically amusing...

Wintertime

The town that I live in seemingly lacks two seasons... spring and fall. Right now, it's 63 degrees... by the end of the week, it's predicted that it'll be 85. In my opinion... there's more beauty in the cold. I love the weight that comes with every blanket you own being stacked upon you, the way the wind bites and tingles at your face, how the air feels so crisp as you fill yourself full and the cuddliness of being bundled up by layers of material.
I also totally dig on the not so freezing days... you can leave all the doors and windows open and freshen up the house. Which inspired me on my newest project today. I bought this picture frame at a junky estate sale for $2... I figured I would paint it metallic silver to match my bedroom mirrors. I collected this picture off the internet and had it printed for nineteen cents.
I was sitting in my kitchen enjoying sweet tea when I was hunting all over for do it yourself picture frames and since my budget is empty at the moment, I was thinking of all the materials I had to utilize. I racked and racked... racked some more just to come up empty handed. Until a trip through the bed room I spotted the mirror shoved into a dresser drawer. They say procrastination doesn't pay off. The color scheme of the mirror and the picture totally go together... the frame just needs a good dusting. My next hurdle was to figure out how to protect an open picture since it'd be living in the kitchen. So racking again, I came across my polyurethane spray and coated the picture. I have no idea how it'll fare as it was starting to bubble but I'll let it dry 24 hours and post some pictures of the after effect. Wish me luck!!
